While most of the media is still waxing rhapsodic about Barackallah’s (He Who Thinks He’s God) Kumbay’all speech in Cairo, Egypt, Thursday, the meaning, the purpose, the effect, the sheer scope and breadth of the magnificence of his grandiloquence is being touted, beheld, and celebrated with awe and wonder. Yet, no one seems to be asking the question uppermost in my mind: why’d he do it?
Yes, I know he claims to want to open the door to peace, yada yada, waaah, waaah. And, I know he knows that one measly little speech will not solve the problems emanating from the Middle East that are now facing the world. By all estimations, it’s gonna take at least six, maybe more, depending on approval ratings. But, he didn’t address the Middle East, or terrorists, or a particular nation’s particular problems. In fact, he pretty clearly stated that that wasn’t his job. His job, as he sees it, is to address and protect Islam. From his speech, A New Beginning:
So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed. That experience guides my conviction that partnership between America and Islam must be based on what Islam is, not what it isn’t. And I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear. (emphasis mine)
Why would an American Pretendident reach out to the “Muslim world” in the first place? Did he do so on behalf of a Christian country? When did that happen? For a supposedly secular nation, whose separation of church and state is woven into the fabric of its existence, to suddenly reach out to a religion, seeking partnership, seems shocking, at least to me. We are supposed to be inclusive, tolerant of all religions, and none, guided by principles laid out in the Constitution, not the ones in the Bible. So, why the official, presidential, embrace of the “Muslim world?” Where in his Oath of Office does it say “buck up Islam”?
Can we expect an “Obama on Buddhism” speech? Judaism? Voodoo? Reach Out And Touch A Druid? You might say, well, those religions pose no threat. Perhaps. But, if Islam does, why aren’t we at war with them? And, how come we’ll never be?
Barack Obama claims to be a committed Christian. I’ve always been skeptical of that, no matter how many times he tried to claim such skepticism was unfair ‘”smearing.” He became a Christian opportunistically, at the urging of Jewish and Catholic community organizers he worked for, after he encountered resistance from the black pastors he tried to coalesce into a formidable force for their (the community organizers’) idea of “change.” Recognizing their powers of persuasion, Obama tried to harness it. His goal was to exploit them, ostensibly, in his own mind, for their own good, and the good of the community, as he saw it. However, the clergymen he courted were not stupid, and recognized a con job from an outsider before he opened his mouth; it’s not like they’d never seen such behavior before. True, most, but by no means all, of the con men purporting to show them how to fix all the problems they were all too familiar with, since they addressed them every day of their lives, were white men and women; i.e., the aforementioned Catholics and Jews, well-intentioned college students, up-and-coming, earnest, young politicians, etc., having heard the rap a zillion times before, mere commonality of skin tone was no guarantee of entree into their inner circle.
A little understood point in black religious politics, is that denomination is by no means exclusive. By that, I mean, a black Methodist Episcopal (AME) service is a lot like a black Missionary Baptist service, which is a lot like a black Pentecostal service, and even a black Catholic service. Crossover is not unheard of, with some worshipers attending multiple churches, even family members will sometimes have different affiliations. Many black children grow up going to one church with one Granny, another with the other, and another one with Momma, sometimes on successive weekends, sometimes even on the same day, and, an entirely different one of their own choice once they reach their teens and/or early adulthood. Black ministers of different denominations often pool their resources for some common community goal. So, it didn’t matter so much if Obama joined a Sanctified church, or a Spiritual, or more loosely defined church, he just had to join a black one.
Thus, Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ was a natural fit with its close ties with Father Michael Pfleger’s St. Sabina and Minister Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam. As far as black churches go, Trinity was pretty mainstream. And, it was huge. Joining such a mini-mega church gave Obama cred he otherwise would not have had, without compromising his own religious convictions overmuch, whatever they may have been.
As far as becoming a “committed Christian,” however, as I’ve said, I’m not so sure. Hearing him question which Biblical passages would be appropriately persuasive politically in his 2006 Speech on Religion, I was struck by how much his arguments sounded like those espoused in the Skeptic’s Annotated Bible, which is pretty much the official handbook of atheists. He has spoken repeatedly, as he did then, of both his mother and father as not being particularly religious, going so far as to say on separate occasions that neither one actually practiced much of anything religious-wise.
Yet the ease with which he spoke of the Qur’an, the correctness of his pronunciation of the word, and its passages, suggest a comfort and familiarity with, and reverence for, the holy book not previously copped to. His exposure to Islam as a child does not cover it, either. I grew up attending Catholic churches among the Baptist, Pentecostal, and others, fairly regularly, at a time when the Mass was conducted in Latin, and I’m sure I could not do justice to a single Latin word. Obama’s continued “faith-based” policies with their inbred prejudices threatening to dilute and consume social freedoms under the guise of inclusion, have to be coming from somewhere. What is the point of a “progressive,” “liberal” president embracing, condoning and sanctioning conservative values when he has an overwhelming Congressional majority? Why try to see both sides of the abortion issue, when there is no middle ground to be sought, much less attain? And, how does speechifying on how most Muslims aren’t scary people resolve the question of Israel’s right to exist, or Iran’s nuclear capabilities?
Now, of course, the Obots will yell and scream, “but, he’s not a Muslim!” as will the bought-and-paid-for, and otherwise properly conditioned through subtle intimidation and groupthink, mainstream media sheeple movers. So will the Center for American Progress’ Think Progress/Media Matters types who are paid to ensure nobody thinks for themselves about the guy. However, “because he says so” is not good enough for me. Especially in the face of his actions. Something made a man who would rather have been caught dead, than associating with a Muslim during the primaries and presidential campaign, break his neck to “reach out to Muslims” almost as soon as he learned his way around the Oval Office. Something makes him think it’s his job to make them look good. Something besides the fact that he’s an all-around swell guy and “sort of a god.”
Yeah, somebody actually said that. Newsbusters says Newsweek’s Evan Thomas made the obsequious observation on fellow GE family member, Chris
of the Tingly Leg Matthews’ MSNBO Oddball show, and, has a clip and transcript to prove it. Baracus Hubris Maximus’ (Hail, Caesar!) god-like ObaMessiah status is no longer just a figment of his own imagination, (though that’s where the concept was born) during his Hunka Hunka Burnin’ Muslim Love speech, it was proven that his divinity was etched in pyramid stone. So says Dr. Zahi Hawass, the guy when it comes to Egyptology, since he’s the Secretary General of the Council of Antiquities. While not everyone’s a fan, no one can doubt the man’s passion for his work. He also seems to be a pretty good politician; after the Celebritician noted a resemblace between himself and a common worker named Kar depicted on a pyramid wall, during a tour
led by Hawass, the good doctor graciously informed the Teflon TelePrompTer Reader that, in his opinion, Obama most closely resembled King Tut. Which, though flattering, I guess, is somewhat strange, because the controversial Tutankhamun died before reaching age 21. So, what was Hawass really trying to say? And, though media motor mouths credited He Who Must Ne’er Be Mocked with exhibiting a healthy dose of self deprecating humor in noting the resemblance between himself and the big-eared Kar, the American Thinker
guys had long ago suggested that Obama poke fun at himself by channeling Steve Martin doing Tut. Their logic? Since the well paid comics of our time would rather whine about not being able to make fun of Omandingo, than actually look at him and his actions objectively, from which point the jokes would automatically flow, and thus, justify their salaries, AT said Obie should do it himself. Not a bad idea, but perhaps a bit premature. Jon Stewart, with deadlines to meet and airtime to fill, finally seems to be warming to the idea of drawing from the deep, deep, Obamalamadingdong comedy well.

Good Lord. Y’all (presumably) think it was OK for GWB to come out with all his palaver about the “crusade”, the war between the West and Islam, but you can’t understand BHO’s efforts to regain the support of the non-self-exploding Muslims that the USA had/enjoyed on 9/11/2001 and the days immediately thereafter? Y’all are blinded by Obama Derangement Syndrome, IMHO.
You presume wrong. Religion and presidents don’t mix. And, you’re just blinded by the bullshit you keep calling. Had the US ever enjoyed so damned much Muslim support, there likely would never have been a 9/11.
I know this post is two days old–I’m usually a lurker, but I do read your stuff fairly often and enjoy it. I’ve come to believe that Obama worships (seriously) only at the ‘church of Obama.’
I think his shout out and Koran references to the Muslim world is to make the fan bozs thrill about how cosmopolitan and worldly he is. Strangely, though, I think you are right in inferring that he does know more about Islam than Christianity. You can bet that there are a few people out there that know the real truth-but, I’m sure they have been co-opted or otherwise managed. Btw, I found a real interesting article on Realclearpolitics–a link to a Vanity Fair piece by Michael Wolffe about the Obama brand management.
Great piece, thank you Cinie.
Thank you, KC. Please visit often, and comment oftener.
I’ve been a lurker on quite a few Puma (and Puma-philosophy affiliated) blogs for the last year but have only just recently been sticking my toes into the posting waters.
So I’m a newbie but I’ve been reading and appreciating your blog for some time now, Cinnie.
This is a great topic (I really never quite understood Obama’s TRUE religious leanings or original background) and felt intuitively that he probably co-opted religion, just like he co-opts his family, friends, political parties, youth, black, and white people (I don’t know about Latinos and Asians because he and his handlers seemed to ignore those communities until much later in the primary game). Anyway, thanks for throwing the meat and potatoes out onto the table, since the MSM normally serves up rather light fare concerning Obama’s history.
Your posts are always funny and fearless and data-packed.
You also seem to have a huge capacity to create new satirical Obama-verbiage. My favorite is “Pertendident” and for today’s essay… I really liked “Obamalama Ding Dong”
Thank you, Madrigal, I appreciate the compliment as well as your participation. Feel free to jump in anytime, the conversation just ain’t the same withoutcha.
This has absolutely no scientific relevance or significance What.So.Ever!
!
Or anything to do with anything anyway
But – in the references that Skeptics Annotated Bible considers “good stuff”, there are 20 mentionings of “don’t lie” in the Bible. In the Koran there are but 2:
And if ye give your word, do justice thereunto, …
…
”So shun the filth of idols, and shun lying speech, …”
This is a great post, Cinie!
I learn so much from reading you.
Like this:
“True, most, but by no means all, of the con men purporting to show them how to fix all the problems they were all too familiar with, since they addressed them every day of their lives, were white men and women.”
But really, I shouldn’t pick just one quote, because there are so many that are quote-worthy, and which help me understand the American society in all it’s multicoloured diversity.
One thing though, we don’t seem to agree on, is that this is all Obama’s doing. I really don’t believe that he is the one(heh!) that singlemindedly decides!
So what I also speculate about is:
What’s the advantage of this pandering to the Muslim world to Obama’s backers. What’s in it for the men behind the curtain?
(And I looove “grandiloquence”, “ObaMessiah”, “He Who Must Ne’er Be Mocked” – speaking of which: Whatever you can say about Jon Stewart: When he is good, he is awesome ! Wish he had shown that during the election.)
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
In 1785, Jefferson drafted a bill that was designed to squash an attempt by some to provide taxes for the purpose of furthering religious education. He wrote that such support for religion was counter to a natural right of man:
… no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer, on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities.
Everson v Board (330 US 1 [1947])
The ‘establishment of religion’ clause of the First Amendment means at least this: Neither a state nor the Federal Government can set up a church. Neither can pass laws which aid one religion, aid all religions, or prefer one religion over another. Neither can force nor influence a person to go to or to remain away from church against his will or force him to profess a belief or disbelief in any religion. No person can be punished for entertaining or professing religious beliefs or disbeliefs, for church attendance or non-attendance. No tax in any amount, large or small, can be levied to support any religious activities or institutions, whatever they may be called, or whatever from they may adopt to teach or practice religion. Neither a state nor the Federal Government can, openly or secretly, participate in the affairs of any religious organizations or groups and vice versa. In the words of Jefferson, the clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect ‘a wall of separation between Church and State.’
Lemon v Kurtzman (403 US 602 [1971]),
In the absence of precisely stated constitutional prohibitions, we must draw lines with reference to the three main evils against which the Establishment Clause was intended to afford protection: “sponsorship, financial support, and active involvement of the sovereign in religious activity.”
Every analysis in this area must begin with consideration of the cumulative criteria developed by the Court over many years. Three such tests may be gleaned from our cases. First, the statute must have a secular legislative purpose; second, its principal or primary effect must be one that neither advances nor inhibits religion; finally, the statute must not foster “an excessive government entanglement with religion.”
Seems as if the constitutional lawyer/president hasn’t read either the constitution, nor the Supreme court rulings. Seems that he plans to ‘hope and change’ everything in his own image, and that is why I am afraid.
Vis a vis African Americans (I personally hate that nomenclature because it designates a certain segment apart, but that’s just me), women and gays….
AA’s – he knows he’s got the vote of most of them, so what the hey, why give them anything, not that he had any intention to do so anyway (he’s half white and more arab than negroid).
Women – well we know where he stands there – we’re good for cooking, cleaning, available for sex and procreation, and taking care of the children that we are forced to bear (make no mistake, this presidency will see if not the end of Roe, a major challenge)
Gays – well mydear, the writing is on the bricks. He doesn’t give two hoots to holler about LGBT people, he finds the thought of them rather distastful, but aren’t they so gullible. He’ll promise the moon and deliver Halley’s comet – in 76 years, when it comes around again, I promise. Odd, because after multiple invasions of him on my TV, I would have sworn that he was a self hating gay – again, just my impression.
America – I don’t think he likes America very much – probably part of the Ayers/Marshall Davis influence. I think he wants to remake it. Not sure whether he fully realizes the task, but his team is setting up the infrastructure with the Civilian youth corps et al – just my inference.
To sum up, I think he’s more interested in becoming a Winston Churchill type figure – beloved and revered by many countries, but at the same time, he wants to feather his own nest, and currently the big bucks are in the oil producing countries and China. I wonder how long China will put up with this nonsense, as I read that he was about to unveil a new stimulus plan on Monday, and of course, China is the largest investor in the U.S. BTW, Kim Jong Ill is supported by China.
You know, HT, I don’t care if he worships a plucked duck, or, if he hates his whole daggonne family, himself, and the new dog. I do care that he’s disingenuous at best, and a bald-faced liar more probably. I want to know what the unspoken agenda is, because the deliberately misleading, seemingly even handed, but really double fisted, wishy washy “boldness” that is his stock-in-trade is wearing thin, and is obviously a cover for anything deemed a little too unsavory to be allowed to flourish in the light of day.
Presidents don’t support religions. Why is the media not screaming about the whole focus on Muslims and Islam, instead of terrorism and threat wherever it is? Does he address Jews, or the state of Israel? Is it an Arab/Israeli conflict, or a Muslim/Jewish one? If it is the latter, why the shoutout to Muslims? And how come the “objective” media isn’t asking these questions?
Cinie, excellent as usual, and we are frakked. There are no brakes on this man, the fourth estate has been closed down and sold, and any disagreement is met with an astroturfing effort that defies reason (I don’t know how many remarks you have to remove from you filter, but it must be horrendous). Goebbels couldn’t have devised a better scenario. Control of the media, civilian youth camps, disdain towards certain leaders of other countries, admiration for other leaders of previously suspect countries, constant celebrity media attention on the person rather than the policies, no intense scrutiny of his words – just mindless praise. It’s very frightening. I was born shortly after the end of WW11. My father, and all uncles were involved. I read all of Winston Churchill’s books by age 14, trying to understand the madness. I read Speer’s and Hess’ biographies, and of course, Baba Yar (and with Stalin in control, read all of the books from Solznysten (sp) etc. I wanted to understand what could cause people to become murderers. I still don’t understand, but after all I have read, this Obammessiah trend is very troubling indeed.
I’m at the age where I couldn’t give a flying fig about someone’s hairstyle, who someone is dating/sleeping with, who was at a prestigious dinner etc. I tend to blame the seemingly insatiable appetite of the American media – perhaps I’m wrong. They didn’t breed the sheep who feast at their banquet of mindless inertia, they just pour the slop into the troughs.
I don’t know the answer, I just instinctively feel that we are knee deep in something that will choke us.
When a President feels it necessary to defend a religion, he’s gone outside the realm and responsibilities of the office, and is imposing his own belief system into government.
Thank you, Cinie, for being you. Never give up, never surrender!
HT, I honestly can’t imagine that such a statement as “I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear,” can go without scrutiny. Substitute any other religion for “Islam” in that statement and there would be hell to pay. He hasn’t said anything close to that about women, African Americans, gays, or hell, even America, has he?
HT, please forgive me if I embarrass you, but what a truely amazing person you are!
And I, like you, to a very high degree blame the 4th State of Power for not doing their job and thereby being accomplice in Obama’s rise to power.
Cinie, I can’t help wondering the same thing … why does he feel it is his responsibility to defend Islam, while at the the same time he puts down Judeo-Christian beliefs and history. It is disingenuous to uphold one while putting down the other. All religions have examples of hypocrisy and corruption in them due to human nature.
I can’t help but remember when Obama gave his second (and scholars agree the one that actually counts) oath of office as POTUS how the Bible was conveniently missing. He made such a big deal about having the Bible that Lincoln swore on at the inauguration, and reportedly it was him who insisted on the second oath. Remember all the hoopla about his being a constitutional scholar would not allow him to just the first oath as legitimate? We must remember it was Obama who noticed and corrected Sup Court Justice Roberts’ mistake when giving the oath the first time. Would a real Christian not ensure that he swore on the Bible the second time?
It just seems to me that no real Christian would take the oath the second time if he considered seriously, without the Bible. I was brought up both Catholic and fundamentalist pentecostal Christian (which I don’t practice today), and then to Baptist denomination. An oath/vow without your hand on the Holy Bible is considered an affront to God, period. Moreover, his continual references to the Koran, as “the Holy Koran” is also sacrilegious.
I just can’t stop seeing this image in my mind when I read his Cairo speech. During his speech I saw a higher reverence to the Koran.
You have some really good points FFO.
I remember how moved I was watching Hillary’s swearing in, using the family Bible and with her family present.
(And I’m not even a religious person!)
Every time I think you’ve outdone yourself, you write a column like this!!!
Really, really good.
http://sarah-palin-2012.blogspot.com/2009/06/obamas-napoleon-complex.html
Thank you.
I think he is bi , and ego-centrically so … he sees women, only from the waist down … and that relegates them to sex objects IF THEY ARE what he he considers HOT . I watched him on the Tyra Banks Show , and I thought he was going to jump her on the couch . Women with power are anathema to him , which is why he went after Sarah Palin with such viciousness.
She was both hot and powerful and he could not resolve the dichotomy . I think that was the case for so many men in that regard. But for him , he has that vicioous misogynistic streak that we saw when he went after Hillary . The control with which that reaction was tamped down aferward was scarier than the outburst.
Swan, I think he is bi and just sees both genders in terms of how they can serve him, period. Those that he can use he has no respect for and I would guess this would stem from the lack of respect he has for his mother. Just playing armchair psychologist, but it seems to me that he feels deep down that if she could have kept her “legs crossed” she would have had more genuine time and concern for him. He couldn’t flatter his mother into serving his needs rather she floated around the world satisfying her own.
I agree with you about Sarah Palin but would also offer that anyone he perceives as having more power than him as unworthy of him because he only cares about those he can use to serve him. Any women with true power would not fall into that category, but Nasty Pancakes, who can not contain her fawning over him would not. Hillary is the same as Sarah; I would daresay that deep down he has more respect for her and Sarah and this something he cannot resolve in his psyche.
I agree with this:
“he … just sees both genders in terms of how they can serve him, period. Those that he can use he has no respect for …”
And he appears to despise those, that let him use them!
It seems to utterly surprise and disappoint them, when he turns his back on them – or even openly mocks them – when they are no longer of any use to him.
They sort of get the same treatment as those who never helped him in the first place.
I think you’re right Cinie – he does appear to be motivated by more than just misogyny. But his contempt for women (especially women in positions of power) does take me aback sometimes. I think I even caught a look of disgust directed at Sotomayer when he was introducing her.
And the way he treated his host Angela Merkel!
Most obviously displayed in Buchenwald where he took control of things, more or less ignored her, walked in front of her, at times almost knocked her over, didn’t make eye contact with her … do I need to go on!
I think it is not only a matter of women in power but also women of a certain age.
The idea that everyone should worship the water he walks on was his own idea .
+10 too funny
But let me add that I think what he TOOK from REV WRIGHT were adaptations of his preaching style , and the blurred lines beteen church and state. The idea that everyone should worship the water he walks on was his own idea .
I don’t think Obie is close to Wright as an orator. He has no passion, for one thing. What he wanted from Wright was validation in the community. Obama was an outsider, an interloper, a fancy schmancy college boy coming down to ‘hood-level to hip da homeys to the “right and proper way to address their grievances.” Without someone of respect to vouch for him, let’s just say continuing to push his agenda would have required bravery of a sort we’re not used to seeing from him.
Cinie , I do not for one minute think that bo has “abandoned ” the Rev ,, I am certain he has done something , thrown him some bone or made some threat to keep him either quiet or happy .
IF ANY OTHER public servant had said this So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed. That experience guides my conviction that partnership between America and Islam must be based on what Islam is, not what it isn’t. And I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.
people would be flipping out … I do not pretend for one moment to understand why there is no reaction , other than the fact they are busy thinking he is “god”
And I think bo worships at that church too ” the church of self worship”
Laree, the Republicans have confirmed Sotomayor what, twice, now? There’s zero chance they won’t do it again, no matter what she believes.
Cinie,
She isn’t getting the cheer leading you would expect from the NYTs. You might be right, she might be a centrist because otherwise they would be explaining to the masses – on their front page, how when she farts it smells like a spring meadow
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/06/us/politics/06ricci.html?_r=1
Nobody is commenting on this Cinie. Obama the spokesman in chief for Islam? Since when is that in an American President’s job description?
Ya’d think that line mighta jumped out at somebody else, wouldn’tcha, Laree? “When life begins” is “above his pay grade,” but “fighting negative images” of his country’s “partner, Islam,” is part of his job description as president? One of his “responsibilities?” And nobody says nuttin’.
Cinie,
We have what 1.8 Muslims in this country, there are more Hindus then there are Muslims. Why on earth if just say the Constitution Required us to partner with any religion, you know in some alternate universe where Obama is President….why would we pick one with such little representation in our own population? We wouldn’t, we would be better off pandering to the Santeria crowd
At least then, we would get a chicken dinner out of it in the end LOL!
I keep thinking of the song
“Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places”
Actually , Cinie ,I can still recite and type the “Hail Mary” in latin that I learned in the fourth grade, but that only reveals the intensity of the religious indoctrination I received at an early age. And even tho I left the church for the deep comfort of Mother Nature at a early age, I still have the residual vestiges of that patriachal propaganda , and I dont care if he thinks I am a Druid, I dont want bo to reach out and touch me there , or anywhere … he can go hug a tree
That doesn’t give Obamallah ( Goddess I love you ) any wiggle room ; he could not wait to acknowledge his muslim brothers on a global scale . The scary part for me is in knowing he is NAIVE enough to think that the same people who helped engineer the “final solution ” for the Jews and collaborated with Hitler can be pursuaded by a speech or even a few speeches?
http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_mandate_grand_mufti.php
The GRAND MUFTI is Yasser Arafats UNCLE . Yasser Arafat changed his name to avoid identification with him , but not his approach to the Jews.
I do think that obamuslim’s upbringing influenced his attitude toward women and religion, and not for the better .
Swannie, I agree that Obama’s upbringing influenced his attitudes about women and which religion to embrace, if any. But, I keep coming back to Rev. Wright, who basically got canned for saying his congregant was just another politician who bears watching. He said he told Obama that if he got elected, he was coming for him, too. WTF? That’s waaay deep. And, supposedly, that’s about the only thing that made Iceberg Obamboozler mad. “Just another politician?” That’s deep. “Just another…” nothing special about him. “Politician”…lying opportunist. And this is your “uncle” who brought you to your deep, committed faith? Deep.
Yep the curtain fell a little when Wright said that, and Obama didn’t like it. Perception is everything for an American Idol Candidate
Take the outcome of the last American Idol Contest. You would have thought the winner was going to be given some high government position, instead of a record contract, the way the results were analyzed.
The curtain was pulled back a little…I would like to see the Mirror Crack “The Perception” destroyed so we can have a good look at the pig we bought in a poke
If Sotomayer is his mirror reflection for the Supreme Court finding out who she is would go along way in telling us who Obama is. We all know he sees everything in relation to himself, he wants his feminine doppelganger on the Highest Court in the Land.
He said she’s a moderate, centrist and the Republicans should be happy with her. Since I always thought that’s what he was looking for, absent any evidence to the contrary, I can buy it.
Cinie,
He wants someone who agrees with his philosophy on the Supreme Court.
I have been wondering given her back ground if she has been exposed to Black Liberation Theology – because Obama has. There are people at Princeton who have studied Liberation Theology. I don’t know if they will run a comb through her or the GOP will hurmph and rubber stamp her. There is no political advantage in being openly hostile to a self proclaimed Latina candidate for the highest court in the land…remember the GOP wants to be Democrat 2.0
Religion has proven to be a very effective weapon in the oppression of women. I think that’s the big attraction for Obama.
Religion is a very effective tool, period. I think suppression of the feminine is a welcome byproduct, but I would guess he’s motivated by more than misogyny.
Cinie,
Homosexuality for example in Iran is openly under attack by Islam…I would really like to know if the Gay Community who backed him has figured out he isn’t ever going to openly do anything for any of their causes they want addressed? Or do they think he will get to them eventually? He can’t Islam wouldn’t allow him to condone gay lifestyles. He truly played the far left like a fiddle. SEE anti war folks not wanting the Afghan war ramped up.
Bob Kerry on Imus in the Morning, responding to the differences Obama made between Iraq and Afghanistan. Afghanistan not a war of choice – Iraq was a war of choice. Bob Kerry, Afghanistan is absolutely a War of Choice by Obama. We don’t have to be in Afghanistan to hunt Al Qeada. But that isn’t what you will hear in the MSM.
http://www.wabcradio.com/Article.asp?id=1355304&spid=22807
Is there any sign any of these factions are waking up to the fact they were duped?
