Why Obama?

In Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Politics on March 15, 2009 at 6:39 am

obamaI’ll be the first to admit that I did not come into this blogging business as the most politically astute or learned person on the planet.  The idea that I might be is so far from the possibility of reality that the words I just typed hardly belong in the same sentence.  I know that.  However, watching my hopes for the election of a candidate I thought to be most qualified to “inherit” (I’m beginning  to hate that word) the responsibility of guiding the county back on track be bashed, dashed, crashed and gleefully shattered to smithereens by disparate entities on the left and right, seemingly demented in their zeal, has given me an opportunity to learn and grow politically in a way unlikely to have been appreciated before, had it presented itself.  And frankly, I’m sick of it.

All. Of. It.

Each news story, op-ed column, Google search, blog post and talking head garbage spew disguised as informed opinion has added another tidbit of information, often counter to the point the happy yakker thought he/she was making, to the tapestry of my understanding of our nation’s political reality.  It’s enough to make you puke.

It was Barack Obama’s declaration that he was a “New Democrat” that began to pull the wool from my eyes this weekend.  You know how “you know just enough to be dangerous,” as the adults used to tell us when we were kids, and we only slightly, superficially understood?  That’s how I feel now.  My previously determined impressions have not exactly been dramatically altered, rather, a sketchy picture is coming into better focus.

I’ve always known that New Democrats were affiliated with the Democratic Leadership Council, that evil Clintonian institution responsible for giving the world the concept of Third Way “triangulation.”  It never dawned on me before however, how such a concept reflects the same sort of underhanded attempt to institute a UniParty under Democratic cover that Obama advocates.  And by UniParty, I mean just that, though not necessarily a melding of the two parties into one, the complete subsumption of the lesser party works just fine, and allows you to loot the ideas you like while suppressing and discarding those you find unacceptable or inconvenient.   Claiming to be “progressive,” their mission statement is rife with uncomfortably “conservative” concepts, presenting a mishmash of doubletalking bullshit that any thinking person would find hard to swallow whole.  Given the influence of Bill and Hillary Clinton in the founding of the damned thing, it would be only natural for those opposed to the concept in general to then assume that Barack Obama represents something better.  However, their “third way” is his “bipartisanship.”

Obama’s “New Democrat declaration” is the most major “duh!” moment any of us will ever likely experience.  Reading the DLC “Hyde Park Initiative,” or Hillary Clinton’s speech to the DLC in 2005, it’s patently obvious that the both documents were cut and pasted unto my.barackobama.com, slapped atop Howard Dean’s 50 State Strategy, typed into a TelePrompTer, and shoved down the country’s throat at a cost of 3/4 of a billion dollars in blackface.  Which begs the question, why?

If, before Obama threw his hat in the ring, Hillary Clinton was the “inevitable” Democratic candidate, inextricably tied to the philosophy of the DLC, what did the party’s corporate elite need Obama for?  Did they really believe him to be more malleable?  3/4 of a billion dollars more “malleable?”  If they’re both going to implement the same policies, the strategy makes no sense, even if you factor Clinton Derangement Syndrome and Hillary’s supposed “high negatives” into the equation.  After all, the same media assault necessary to catapult an inexperienced, unqualified, unknown quantity into the fray and transform him into a beloved, messianic household name, could have been deployed on Clinton’s behalf, likely with even better results, since she, at least, usually knows what the hell she’s talking about.  Let’s face it, even with all the shit thrown at her that she endured, she still managed to emerge victorious; imagine what might have happened if she had actually had the kind of party and media support Obama did.

Also, if he was a DLC Trojan Horse, why the vicious campaign?  And, why would the Clinton faction fight so hard against his juggernaut?  Why the race-baiting, sexist, ugliness foisted upon the national consciousness?  To whose benefit was that?  Why wouldn’t Clinton just put up a show of a fight and bow out gracefully?   The whole “historic nature” of his candidacy and ultimate presidency is bogus, too, given that a woman POTUS would have been equally earth-shattering.  It all makes no sense.

With only a portion of the resources afforded Obama, financial and media-wise, added to her arsenal, Clinton could have marshaled just as many forces on her side, resulting in just as many downticket Democratic gains.  The argument that the Republicans would have mounted a more vigorous campaign against her is speculative and spurious given that McCain was the presumptive nominee early on, and it’s hardly a given that he would have engendered more of his party’s support as a result.  Besides, with the handicap of George Bush to deal with, any Democrat was almost assured of victory against any Republican they might have faced.

We know that David Axelrod might well have been tapped by Clinton had there been no Obama, he had worked for President Clinton’s and Hillary Clinton’s campaigns, after all.  Even the argument that she didn’t embrace Dean’s 50 State Strategy is insignificant, there’s no reason to assume that the Democratic Party would not, or could not have employed it in conjunction with Clinton’s more traditional approach, thereby increasing the potential effectiveness of both.  If Barack Obama has always been a “New Democrat,” last years presidential campaign makes no sense whatsoever.  If he hasn’t, what’s he trying to hide by claiming to be?

Bill Clinton’s 2000 remarks at the DLC’s Hyde Park Retreat, the Hyde Park Delaration, itself, Hillary Clinton’s 2005 America in 2020 Dream Initiative read like they could have been plastered onto Barack Obama’s Traveling TelePrompTer Crutch, and might well have been, with all their talk of health insurance reform, (including electronic medical records) personal responsibility, public service, stem cell research, etc.  We know for a fact that Barack Obama was not in on formulating these plans back in 1985 when the DLC was founded, or, in 1990 when Chairman Bill Clinton put together the New Orleans Declaration that founder Al From called “a seminal document” that served as “the philosophical foundation for the third way approach.”  Yet, the front page of the DLC website just as proudly claims Obama as their own, as he, surprisingly, recently claimed them.

Wikipedia’s assertion that the Center For American Progress and Howard Dean’s Democracy For America, as well as Daily Kos and MyDD are at odds with DLC’s philosophy is rather simplistic, in my opinion.  They could all be spokes on the same wheel.  Not only that, in many ways, Barack Obama is to the right of either Clinton.  In 2006, Hillary Clinton told Yearly Kos that she helped found the George Soros backed Center For American Progress and Media Matters.  And, while the Soros-backed Democracy Alliance had provided funding to CAP and not the DLC, and Soros himself, along with Media Matters and CAP and their Clinton era staffers have been closely aligned with Obama during his campaign and transition, Hillary’s claims at Kos (August 4, 2007) came a year after the Washington Post (July 17, 2006) story detailing the Soros/Democracy Alliance/CAP connection.  Is she so clueless she didn’t know she had been abandoned?  Had she?  Hillary’s boast comes at about 2:20 in the following clip:

We are certainly better prepared and more focused on, you know, taking our arguments, and making them effective, and disseminating them widely, and really putting together a network, uh, in the blogosphere, in a lot of the new progressive infrastructure, institutions that I helped to start and support like Media Matters and Center for American Progress.

I’ve tried to make sense of all this many times before, notably here, but the new “I’m a New Democrat” happy crappy is really burning my ass.  If Obama is indeed a New Democrat, and has been all along, we’ve all been played for suckers, big time.  And, we still are.   Could Hillary’s reluctance to play into the Obama-Axelrovian “gotcha, silly season” politics they accused her of, and that they seem to delight in, be the problem?  The fratboy pissing contests played out in the media that the the Obministration seems so very fond of, just might not be everybody’s cup of tea, especially considering how stupid they are, no matter how effective the New Obacrats might deem them to be.

Also, while Clinton might not have a problem battling the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy in response, she might not have the stomach for the more pro-active, aggressive media manipulation that’s all the rage with the otherwise vacuous and inefficient New Obama Dems.  In addition to the sort of Joe the Plumber attacks that the Obacracy employed so boyishly against her and Sarah Palin, Rick Santelli, Rush Limbaugh, Jim Cramer and others, with their now-White House, then Chicago headquarters dispatched talking points distributed via paid media talking heads, Begala, Carville and Stephanopoulis, (all former Clintonites) as well as diligently issued email alerts to the Blogger Bully Obots and Alinsky agitators under the guise of donor updates, Obidiots are now implementing Phase Two, according to Politico:

Beginning Sunday, the White House will harness every part of the Democratic Party’s machinery to defend President Obama’s budget and portray Republicans as reflexively political, according to party strategists.

A participant in the planning meetings described the push as a successor to Democrats’ message that Rush Limbaugh is the Republican Party leader. “We have exhausted the use of Rush as an attention-getter,” the official said.

The media manipulation has been especially odious, made moreso by the shameless admission that such tactics are an integral part of the Obministration’s arsenal.  This sort of Astroturfing “governing by the appearance of popular opinion” is a specialty of the Obots, perfected during the campaign, though, not always successful, as in the Pennsylvania primaries, where they wasted millions of dollars employing his vaunted media mojo, only to get soundly spanked.

The Obama grassroots network—now known as Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee—has launched an e-mail pledge drive on MyBarackObama.com in which supporters sign their e-mail address to the statement: “I support President Obama’s bold approach for renewing America’s economy.”

The pledge drive was announced with a video called “Ready for the Fight.” Plouffe e-mailed supporters over the weekend with a challenge labeled “The next few weeks”: “In the next few weeks we’ll be asking you to do some of the same things we asked of you during the campaign—talking directly to people in your communities about the President’s ideas for long-term prosperity.”

If the ultimate goal was to engage a younger, electorate-expanding  demographic, this sort of iPod, Blackberry, FaceBook-ization of media manipulation might seem cool enough to work for now, but even braindead, KoolAid drunk, basement dwelling, one hand typists grow up sooner or later, and are likely to be pissed off when they realize how much their “style over substance” support of an empty suit wearing Naked Emperor could cost them in the long run.  Too bad the entire Democratic party is now banking on it.

A broad coalition of left-leaning groups is quietly closing ranks into a new coalition, “Unity ‘09,” aimed at helping President Barack Obama push his agenda through Congress.

Conceived at a New York meeting before the November election, two Democrats familiar with the planning said, Unity ‘09 will draw together money and grassroots organizations to pressure lawmakers in their home states to back White House legislation and other progressive causes.

The online-based MoveOn.org is a central player in the nascent organization, but other groups involved in planning Unity ‘09 span a broad spectrum of interests, from the American Civil Liberties Union to the National Council of La Raza to Planned Parenthood, as well as labor unions and environmental groups.

Frankly, the so-called “progressive” agenda espoused by any candidate embracing the DLC/New Democrat agenda concerns me on a lot of levels.  I have real problems with some of  the elements of it, especially those regarding health care, education, housing, so-called “service” and the whole “married with children is the only acceptable lifestyle” stuff.  To be honest, the “tree hugging, let me share your pain, you poor suffering wretch” far left liberals make my ass itch, too.  That being said, overall, the Democratic approach to government is more appealing to me on the whole than the alternative; I just have an even bigger problem with having the elements I don’t like shoved down my throat without grease (yeah, another mixed metaphor, but, hey, what can I say, I like ‘em) or debate, let alone a vote.  Even a marginalized alternate party serves a purpose in our system of government.

And, if his groovy new Facebook Obacrophy of media manipulation is the only thing that Obama brings to the table, it’s not enough to justify somebody’s 3/4 billion dollar investment in him over Hillary.  It just makes me hate him more, and is likely to blow up in his face and bite him in the ass in the future.  Especially if he doesn’t get better, and, a little more subtle, at it.

  1. AFVET, I’d venture a guess that it began as far back as the Changeling’s appearance at the convention in 2004! As I look back on all of this now – through a much clearer, more informed lens, I’m convinced they saw in him then, a greedy, opportunistic megalomaniac who would do ANYTHING for the adoration, glory and perceived power. No matter how much we all protest, the fact that he’s already “won” (in his eyes) – no matter what happens to the country – is not lost on me. He’s made it into the history books as the 1st African-American nominee of a major party (, 1st African-American president, 1st African-American to live in the White House and Lord let’s not forget his damn face plastered on every plate, coin, calendar, T Shirt, you name it! This was never about bringing the country out of the Shrub morass, or leveling the playing field for Blacks, or rehabilitating our image abroad, or a substantive immigration policy, or better education for our children (Hell when’s the last time Ole Arnie’s personally dealt with kids? NEVER!! He has none and has never even taught school, yet he’s the Secty. of Education???) – or any of the shit he said. It was about none of those things IMHO. It was always about him.

And the only way I see us getting even is tossing out the whole lot of them – on both sides of the aisle!

  2. Cinie, this is really hot – your wisdom and humor make ita great read – I love the look and feel of your site too!

The movie you’ve got on your front page answers a lot of questions – I too take some of it with a grain of salt but it would indeed shed some light on all of those activities that haven’t made one iota of sense.

  3. Wow Cinie, While I enjoy everything you write due to the research you do and the biting wit, this one is seriously outstanding.

  4. Sugar, Deb, I’m right there with you. Even if we’re all just being paranoid, doesn’t mean we’re wrong.

    • Cinie,…ROCK ON !!!
Great post, rant all you want to, we love it.

As far as the technology move he is pushing toward our young people, he knows, or is being told, that that is the way to build his base.

Ignorance can be remedied, stupid goes right to the bone.
There are three sides to every story,…one side, the other side, and the truth.
The youth of this country are being programmed to ignore the truth as opposed to picking a side.

Cinie,…your site is exposing the truth, and I commend you for it.

  5. Oh! I forgot. More to lee m.’s comment about this “manufactured crisis,” I read this today about Fed. Chmn. Bernanke’s appearance on 60 Minutes – “Bernanke: recession could end in ‘09″ – Really now??? After all that gloom and doom they’ve been selling to get at those TARP/Stimulus $$$!

  6. Make that, “And why would Geithner, who had his hand on the tiller as the ship ALLEGEDLY went down at the Federal Reserve and previously the IMF, be Treasury Secty right now?” :-)

  7. Great post as usual Cinnie and I’m glad to see the question marks! I think you’re on the right track here. I came to the realization a while back that they ARE actually all in this together. This statement from lee m. up-thread is, I think, more telling than most of us would like to admit: “There is an entity, or entities, behind Obama that will scare the beejesus out of us if we ever get the truth. This so-called crisis was manufactured…

I’ve been thinking that for some time now (trust me I have earned the conspiracy theorist designation from friends and foes alike!) Why else would the Changeling even be President right now with his no-experience-havin’ ass? And why would Geithner, who had his hand on the tiller as the ship went down at the Federal Reserve and previously the IMF, be Treasury Secty right now? Why WOULD Hill take SOS if she wasn’t hip to those entities? Why would she cave, no choice? Why would all things Clinton throw their support so readily behind the Changeling? Sorry neither Bill or Hill strike me as people who would cry “Uncle” so easily? Because their just good Democrats? I just don’t think so. Why has he tapped all those ex-Clintonites for Administration posts? Because they’re all so stellar? I don’t think so.

I was a my-vote-didn’t-count-in-the-Florida-primary Democrat and May 31, 2008 at the RBC is a day I will never forget. That was when I know I knew (and when I switched my registration to Independent). And when the FL Dems who supported Hill (remember they came to DC to protest the RBC’s bullshit?) either could or would not produce the letter which the Changeling’s people said each candidate purportedly signed saying our votes would not count, I knew “something in the milk wasn’t clean” as my grandmother used to say. Then Karen Thurman put out this bullshit email about party unity after they gave him the nomination, I was sure of it.

If it makes no sense, I say follow your gut and govern yourself accordingly. In the end, I’m certain you’ll find you were on the money.

    • Deb,…it all started in 2006, when the conspirators won the majority.

This administration is a master at the shell game, bait and switch, or whatever you want to call it.

Stay informed, and refer to this and many other websites that are committed to keeping the American people apprised of what the hell is going on.

We don’t get mad, we get even…….2010 should be enlightening.

  8. Cinie, I am starting to not trust ANY of them. The funny thing is, I haven’t been as immersed in all of this as I was even just a month ago and the more I think all of this through, having pulled back a bit–I don’t see how we trust any of them. I think that most of us agree that there is a power structure behind most of these “leaders”. Why wouldn’t the power structure be behind all of them? What would cause this power structure to relinquish control for even a minute? Why would Hillary sign on for this because being on the inside, she certainly would have to know about that power structure. AND, if the power structure is real, her joining forces with Obama couldn’t possibly be about trying to make things better because she would know that she would be at their behest and couldn’t do what she wanted to do anyway–if she had the desire to do so. I’m vexed. I tell you. I don’t know what to think anymore.

Thank you so very much for this thought-provoking piece.

  9. Cinie, go over to Electric Blues (Gary’s site) and check out the poor, disillusioned Obot baby crying in his kool aid. It’s just dawned on him how badly he got used.

    http://garychapelhill.wordpress.com/2009/03/10/waaah-waaah-waaah/

PS, I go over there at least twice a day just to play that clip!

    • Hi Fredster, saw that when GCH put it up and commented that kids who live in their mom’s basement shouldn’t get to complain; or words to that effect. ;)

  10. Cinie, just popping in to let you know I’m still lurking and….
you keep getting better! How do you do that?
A very thought provoking, worrisome post. Begs the question, just who are the people pulling the strings, and what is their real agenda.

    • Hi, HT, I’m still just trying to connect the dots, and I’m still not scared to don a tinfoil hat or two and go off on a tangent just to see where it leads. We might never figure it all out, but that’s no reason to stop trying.

  11. Cinie as usual you have taught me more about the Democratic party. It is obvious that there is more we don’t know about what happened during the primary between Hillary Clinton, the DNC and Obama.

Here is another article about the eligibility of Obama to be President. There have been dozens of petitions and lawsuits against Obama. This week Orly Taitz Esq. questioned Chief Justice Roberts publicly in front of 800 people at the University of Idaho about his case against President Obama being illegally omitted from the Supreme Court docket by a Supreme Court clerk.

To view the entire article, visit http://www.worldnetdaily.com/?pageId=91763

    • As far as HRC is concerned, I don’t mind a politician being a politician, but she’s by no means innocent or blameless in this whole mess. Who exactly did what and why, I haven’t figured out, yet. But, I don’t expect to find many clean hands at the end of the day.

  12. Cinie, this is a great post. I just wish more people had your wisdom and ability to call it like you see it. I have been ranting for almost a year now that Obama’s money machine was coming from suspicious areas. Why couldn’t more people see that Mr. No Name and No Country was hiding something? I mean someone with the authority to do something about it. Congress, the SCOTUS, Federal Court Judges, anyone.

There is an entity, or entities, behind Obama that will scare the beejesus out of us if we ever get the truth. This so-called crisis was manufactured, and the skirmishing that we are about to see on the border and in Mexico is all part of the plan IMO. With an excuse to call in the military, Obama will have all he needs to complete the nefarious scheme that his backers have had in mind for America for a long time. Once he declares martial law, (and the machinery is aleady in place to do just that,) we can kiss our Constitution goodbye forever.

The “Merida Plan” signed with Mexico and Central America providing helicopters, etc. to patrol the region? In my estimation it was just a $1.4 million excuse to map the area for the possible deployment of troops on both sides of the border. Some reports say this mapping has already been done. Watch the border. If the military is deployed (as Obama has said he might have to do) for the manufactured excuse that we have to be protected from the drug violence and possible storming of our borders by refugees trying to escape said violence, you will know that we are well on our way to martial law in America. For Pity’s sake, America, Wake Up before it’s too late. Every day Obama takes on a little more power. He makes the power grabbing of George Bush seem like a Sunday School Picnic.

    • Lee, I just hate it when things don’t make sense. As far as what he might ultimately be up to, I say, listen to Jo(k)e Biden. He puts his foot in his mouth a lot, but the phrase, “generated crisis” ain’t just any ol’ slip of the tongue.

  13. I can relate to your comment about subscribing the Democratic ideals vs. the Alternative. I just can’t seem to find the Democratic Party anywhere in this mess. Occasionally there is a glimpse, but then the next thing I know, there’s another Regressive idea that indicates to me that democracy is not on their list of goals except as it pertains to removing it. This is enough to move me away from them, with the distance growing larger and larger every time they announce another idea that will make the entire country poor except for the elite.

At least the Republicans are up front about their disdain for the middle class. This bunch tries to pull that “We’re from the government, we’re here to help” routine. And we all know what that always means.

As for the young ones…I agree that they are already pretty bored. I have also seen some hesitation among the ones I know as well. They are coming to realize that they are going to have to pay for all of this, and there is concern about their future ability to advance under this Kumbaya society that looked good to them during the Yes We Can phase. Then too, they are noticing that their parents, who tend to supplement their lives financially even though many of them are pushing 30, are becoming increasingly unable to supply them with bright shiney objects in this economy. That alone gives them a frightful feeling, for nothing means more to them than those bright, shiney objects. Unfortunately, the longer this Trillion Fest goes on, the more in debt this generation will be. It benefits them to grow their wisdom a bit faster. I know that many of them have already felt burnt due to finding out that mom and dad can no longer afford the car lease, the cell phone contract and the car insurance. Recently, a relative of mine and her husband told their pushing-30 kids, who have both left home and returned several times, that they will have to start paying rent if they want to continue living with Mom and Dad.

    • LOVE your fiscal conservative philosophy.

you mentioned in your post that some young people were beginning to take notice of what’s going on now, and how it will affect their future.

There are a number of states that are making it mandatory for high school kids to pass a personal finance course before they go to college, the military, or take a job in the private sector.

WHAT A CONCEPT, WHERE WAS IT 20 YEARS AGO?

Republicans, Democrats, whatever, the country is what matters, and we don’t want to go down the road of failed economies because we can’t recall history, or refuse to.

The present administration is on a course to undermine the American spirit, thru taxing the companies that provide jobs to the people that make this country, ( and still ) the best republic and the best democracy in the WORLD, and has been for 200+ years.

This obama dude, supported by a Chicago thug machine, that defeated HRC by shear $$$$$ is no surprise to me.

I didn’t vote for HRC, I voted AGAINST OBAMA., period.

The Russians are already rattling the sabers in Cuba and South America, landing bombers in this hemisphere right on our borders.
How long has the messiah had the throne ? 2 months ? These countries are like jackals waiting for the kill.

Biden, the boy blunder, said early on that the world would TEST the big O. Is he up to it ??? We will see. Wait, they’re doing it now.

This administration has to be defeated, either by the economic conditions, or the American people standing up again and telling them that we are not going to take it anymore!!

      • AFVET, it’s not just Russia testing him. Now it’s China. And China is the one place I have always feared because they hold so much of our debt paper. Now they REALLY have us by the short and curlies–and are now humiliating us by questioning whether we are good for the debt. In my not so short life, I have never been so embarrassed for my country. Toss in that loser running the UN telling us we are Deadbeats when we have funded their thieving money-laundering asses for years.

I sense China is just waiting for us to try to borrow from them again so that they can publicly say NO!

        • Uppity Woman, you are right, but if they would call in their debt the US would be in a bad situation. They are building a military that could be the largest in the history of the world. They are already sending ships to stop the pirates off Somalia, which means they have a global range. They recently threatened our ship in the South China Sea, just off the Philippine Islands.

Obama’s administration, in my opinion is too immersed in the financial condition of this country, that was created by greed and government corruption, and ignoring the powers that intend to threaten us militarily. Global economy.

Obama has surrounded himself with “advisers” that have 1 plan. Short-sighted, take power, and dominate the American economy so we can hold our power over the American People. Global economy.

Great societies fail from within, and always have.

I don’t think the American People want a global economy, do you ??

I still want us to be the Shining City on the Hill, that everyone wants to come to. Not what Obama is turning us into.

    • Uppity, there’s so much wrong with creating and promoting a rock star as POTUS to a generation looking for a hero, and to do so deliberately in order to take advantage of the country while claiming it’s for their own good by co-opting, commandeering and manipulating the media and every other info source, is just feeding the outrage that caused me to disassociate from the Democratic party in the first place.

  14. Oh, OK. Thanks. He actually won in Philadelphia and surrounding districts, but lost PA. (I worked at the polls and our district, just outside of Phila, was dead even.)
During the primary I saw Hillary at a local community college. There were all kinds of people, but a LOT of supportive students. Kind of blew the youth myth.
My son lives in the city, in a black neighborhood – not poor, but people with jobs, but not making a whole lot of money, like him – a community. The community association invited BO, during the primary, to come and speak to them. BO blew them off.

  15. I am on the mailing list for the Obama for America so that I can see what they are doing. Everyone once in awhile, even though I know how they work, I am blown away by the ‘audacity’, the sheer boldness. Mostly I don’t worry a whole lot about the kids support because, as OldCoastie says, it’s old news – they have a short attention span. The media I worry more – like WTF was the Jon Stewart – Jim Cramer thing all about? That was stupid. Cramer speaks out against the big guys and THEN you attack him?
Just what agenda are these groups supporting when they support Obama? He’s gone back on almost everything he ever said. Who knows what his agenda is?
I am curious about your reference to what happened in Philadelphia, my city. I don’t know what you are referring to and would like to know.

    • Hi, Fran. In the primaries, Obama outspent Clinton like 3 or 4 to 1, and still lost big time. He campaigned for a month, took out Democrat for a Day ads, spent gazillions in all media, mounted massive GOTV efforts, and even gave his leg tingling, Lincoln-esque, Greatest Race Speech Ever and still lost. That’s what I meant.

  16. They may be attempting to “marshal the troops” but Obama seems to be yesterday’s news already with the young folks…

    • Yeah, Coastie, but the danger is, he might already have been successfully branded. Once that happens to a product, there’s no real incentive to make it better. Think McDonald’s. Other chains have to innovate, Mickey D’s can just keep making the same old burgers they always did. Maybe that’s what happened to HRC; even though she was “new and improved” people who never tried her had already been sold off her.

  17. WOW! This is epic and SPOT ON! Thank You!

    • Thank you for giving validation to my rant. Glad I’m not alone in my disillusionment. I didn’t really mean that the way it came out. :)
