Are you smarter than a government official? Probably. But probably not by much. At least not according to the results of a civics test given to ordinary citizens as well as those elected to serve just for giggles.
US elected officials scored abysmally on a test measuring their civic knowledge, with an average grade of just 44 percent, the group that organized the exam said Thursday.
Ordinary citizens did not fare much better, scoring just 49 percent correct on the 33 exam questions compiled by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI).
This test has been going around the blogosphere for a few days, with high scorers boastfully posting them, and everybody else noticeably silent, so we don’t know what the internet average really is. If you believe the posted bloggers and commenters, those who hang out online are friggin’ genii, scoring on average 30 out of 33, let them tell it. I didn’t do that good, I got 74%. So, while I’m no Joe Cannon, I’m smarter than a college professor, a government official and most of the people who elected them.
At least I passed.
