I haven’t yet voted; it’s still early here on the West Coast, but as I contemplate, still, how exactly I’m going to cast my protest vote, there are a few things about this election I find hard to believe. I find it hard to believe that millions of people are willing, nay, enthusiastic, about voting for a man of little accomplishment and experience, just because he’s black. I find it equally hard to believe that millions of people are willing to vote for a man whose own party is lukewarm about, just because he’s not the black guy. In other words, I find it hard to believe that these are our two choices for the highest office in the land. Is this really the best we can do?
We will wake up tomorrow to a new president-elect, and the only thing we can be sure of, is that we will get the government we deserve.
The one we’re willing to settle for.
Sheesh.
