Thank God It’s Over!

In Barack Obama, Politics on November 4, 2008 at 9:34 pm

af577balloons-postersFirst of all, to all those who voted for Barack Obama, congratulations, you won!  To all those who didn’t, buck up, it’s not the end of the world, even if it does feel that way right now.  We survived George Bush, we’ll get by.  Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t drunk the KoolAid, I still stand behind everything I’ve written about my feelings for the new president-elect.  That being said, the majority of voters did not agree with me, and he will soon be the leader of my country.  I intend to hold his feet to the fire every step of the way, too.

For all those who voted for “hope,” how will you know if you get it?  You’ve already gotten “change,” America has it’s first black president, that’s “change” for your ass!   Whether it’s ultimately enough, remains to be seen.  Anyway, good luck to all, and Obots, try not to gloat.  You won.  Celebrate.  The real world resumes spinning tomorrow.

Keep Me Posted

In Barack Obama, Politics on November 4, 2008 at 4:51 pm

42-17090935Okay, I admit it, I’m a wimp.  I can’t watch the election results.  I PUMA voted, could not for the life of me bring myself to let my race trump the Democratic candidate’s inexperience and lack of accomplishment, nor the DeaNC’s treachery in selecting such a candidate by undemocratic means to represent them and the things they’re supposed to stand for.  If that revokes my black card, take it.  And stick it.  So, if any kind souls care to keep me updated, please do.  I’ll be busy measuring my oven for headspace.

Not, so not.

Hard To Believe

In Barack Obama, Politics on November 4, 2008 at 9:56 am

mccain_obama1I haven’t yet voted; it’s still early here on the West Coast, but as I contemplate, still, how exactly I’m going to cast my protest vote, there are a few things about this election I find hard to believe.  I find it hard to believe that millions of people are willing, nay, enthusiastic, about voting for a man of little accomplishment and experience, just because he’s black.  I find it equally hard to believe that millions of people are willing to vote for a man whose own party is lukewarm about, just because he’s not the black guy.  In other words, I find it hard to believe that these are our two choices for the highest office in the land.  Is this really the best we can do?

We will wake up tomorrow to a new president-elect, and the only thing we can be sure of, is that we will get the government we deserve.

The one we’re willing to settle for.

Sheesh.
