That’s what some guy named Charley James, on a website called The Progressive Curmudgeon, claims that Sarah Palin said in a restaurant full of people upon hearing Barack Obama had secured the nomination. Charley says Lucille the Waitress told him, but didn’t really want him to tell anybody.
Alaskans Speak (In A Frightened Whisper): Palin Is “Racist, Sexist, Vindictive And Mean.”
“So Sambo beat the bitch!”
This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.
According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.
Okay, that’s enough of that. Here’s Charley on Charley:
If you’re born in Milwaukee, you are born a Democrat. And so I gravitated naturally to liberal politics, first as journalist and then an activist. I’ve been writing since I was eight years old and, after working in newsrooms for far too long, I have devoted much of the past decade as an independent investigtative jouralist. When not writing about politics or George Bush, I scribble out essays on the peculiarites of modern times.
The Progressive Curmudgeon on The Progressive Curmudgeon:
A progressive (read: liberal) look at US political, foreign policy, social, law and war-and-peace issues through the eyes of a politically concerned and somewhat deranged ex-pat Yank writing from the relative safety of Canada.
Hey, I just report ‘em, you gotta read ‘em.
Or not.
UPDATE: I had hoped to convey my contempt for this article and “journalist,” (I would never call myself such, I’m a chick with a blog.) but in case I didn’t, here are a couple of other takes on Charley and his story, and there’s always Michelle Malkin. This is the website credited with “breaking” Charley’s story. Sounds like a “whisper campaign” to me.

Just Say No Deal

It’s hard for me to see how exposing Charley for who he is, where he comes from and what he’s trying to do can be construed as any kind of “support.” But thanks for visiting.
If you actually and really object to the ‘whisper campaign’ then you would simply ignore this Charley guy. Otherwise, it simply looks like you are really trying to passively support Charley and the whisper campaign – all the while trying to look like you are ‘passively objecting’.
Thanks, I didn’t really doubt you, just wanted to be crystal clear. I really appreciate your “fandom” and don’t want you to ever “misunderstand” where I’m coming from.
Cinie, I recognize and appreciate your intentions. My rage is about people who call themselves progressives (I hate that tag, I’m a liberal and proud of it) and don’t just swim in this swill, they manufacture the swill.
I am a hard core Cinie fan. Although I don’t comment often, I’m here daily.
HT, the whole point of this post was to point out the ridiculous. I do not believe the story and the video was meant to underscore that.
OMG, just watched the video. People think this is funny?
Let’s list the qualities:
Lack of tact….check
Lack of taste….check
Lack of humor….check
Lack of fact…..check.
Full of vitriol and hotair…check.
We used to call people who did this type of self aggrandisement republicans. I now realize we were wrong – republicans do not have the market cornered on tacky or any other front. As a liberal, I find this clip offensive, of poor quality, humorless, and downright nasty for no suitable reason.
So, perhaps I’ve been deluded all my life. Today a liberal means someone heard from someone who heard from someone, who has it straight from someone who heard, and therefore it’s okay to publish.
Hmmmm, not the way this liberal was raised, and not the way this liberal raised her children. Guess I’m out of synch with today’s liberals, and frankly, if this is the way they conduct themselves, I’m glad I’m out of synch.
What a bunch of horse manure.
Sarah Palin has many issues with which I disagree – policy issues. How about these so called LIBERALS focus on those issues, and don’t focus on what someone once said within hearing shot of someone, who told someone, who told someone else.
In my day, liberals would have labeled that as gossip, idle at best, malicious at its core.
Is this the best that the Obama bloggers can produce? If so, their chosen one is in a lot of deep dog doodoo.
